what is it with customer service these days? or perhaps i should say "customer service"? are they completely pizzled off that robots are overtaking their jobs? sorry, but robotic voices & punching fifty buttons to finally talk to a live person do nothing to make me want to give your company business. there has been that smart guy (who apparently needed a life, but to whom i am grateful, nevertheless) who compiled the CHEAT SHEET TO GET A REAL LIVE HUMAN. he's been featured so much that he had to get newer & larger blogging space.

in other news, it's now acceptable to PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD. coffee that tastes like hummingbird vomit? must be better than what we tried yesterday at work -- JACK DANIEL'S COFFEE. talk about a kickback.

says the girl who had a grande skim double espresso no whip mocha. not quite a mochalottachocolatino, but getting there.

maybe i've had too much caffeine this morning.

hey there, yes you. i am still alive.
you thought i had perished?
nay!

thanks to many of you kind peeps who have emailed or IMd me recently asking where the heck i have been hiding myself. i could say that i have been covertly lurking around the premises. that might be accurate. truth be told, i haven't even considered bloggery of late because i am so swamped at work that blogging-time there is obsolete & i have been reluctant to stare at the beast-that-is-the-'puter when i am in the house. never fear, though. i am back.

there have been times that i've thought, "oh, i need to blog that". i've wondered where my muse has gone. i'd say it's been sucked out by some supersonic hoover at some stage of the game.

i've had a couple of people bugging me to write for THE DIRTY DISH & for RELEVANT. i shouldn't say bugging so much as politely prodding me. those are both endeavors i intend to undertake "one day". "one day" just seems to be in the distant future. if/when i finally obtain a laptop so that i might go to my favorite coffeeshop & lurk whilst websurfing & crafting wittery, then perhaps "one day" may be in the closer future.

in the meantime, though, i can try to recall the many things that i should have blogged but didn't. the details may be fuzzy. the pics are usually on my camera, waiting for download. i have no excuses, really.

* the drudgery that is work - i like my job as a litigation paralegal on most days. lately it's been stressful.

in about a month's time, we had three of our six paralegals in my department depart from us. the majority were for good reason (relocation out-of-state with husband's job; relocation to a new office with more opportunity & management abilities); one left because of a pay discrepancy. were i suspicious, i might be concerned about such a mass exodus. what i am concerned about, instead, is the absence of funnery as two of the three who left were my office buddies. you know what i mean -- they were the ones who made work tolerable. now i shall instead crumble beneath stacks of work with little laughter in the forecast. don't you worry, i'll make it just fine.

* friends & family - my good friends deena & philip recently moved back to the area. i've been visiting with them occasionally but we've come to realize our time together will never be the same. there's so much that changes in all the moves, the marriages, the new relationships & the like. it's not a bad thing, but it is change.

my parents came to visit (first time in my new place staying overnight) a few weeks ago. this was the first visit where i felt there was enough room to really enjoy spending time together. it's that thing where you love your family, but there is only so much time you can spend together with one another. this was also the first time i've played a "real" hostess to the family, cooking meals, planning outings, that sort of thing. how very grown up of me.

eric is still my favorite seksy beast. we just celebrated valentine's this week with a minimal celebration. we ordered take-away from OUTBACK & watched a movie. we were the smart ones, you see, who enjoyed our valentine's dinner the weekend before at TIR NA NOG. we've just celebrated eight months together. it's hard to believe. while we both admit there have been some rocky times in determining our fit for one another in a relationship, i am happy to report that he really is lovely to me. i know that's a girl term, hon, but it's true.

* my newest hobby - my newest hobby of late has been cooking & trying new recipes. i think i'm becoming a snobby foodie. i lurk at the cooking light boards & pore over my REAL SIMPLE magazine each month. not to mention that i incessantly read food blogs like EVERYBODY LIKES SANDWICHES (love her set-up & her writing ... she seems like the sort i'd sit down & shoot the breeze with easily) & SOMETHING SO CLEVER. i am somewhat baffled & drawn by curiosity regularly to THE VEGAN LUNCHBOX & i'm not even vegetarian, much less vegan! i've done a decent job of keeping up with my plan to try a new recipe around once a week. if i had more time & space, i'd cook all day long just to expiriment with all the tastes & textures.

& that's all the time we have today, folks. enjoy the ride.

it really has been that long since i posted.
