31 October 2006

i knew way back in the day when i first started this bloggery bit that i named it aptly. at the time, i thought that the random part really referred more to the things generated out of my noggin. i think it has evolved to mean when i randomly decide to post.

i've gotten emails & comments telling me to get my arse in gear & put some posts up here. no worries, it's been on my mind. yet, i haven't actually actively pursued it. or rather, i haven't pursued it at at a time that was apparently agreeable to blogger. there have been several times over the last few weeks that i have attempted to log into blogger to post & it simply spewed out messages of "blogger down! blogger down!" or something to that effect.

today may change all of that. after all, it is halloween & magical things happen on all hallow's eve, no? unfortunately i have nothing magical to report on how i shall spend my halloween evening. i remember as a kid that this holiday seemed so much more exciting than it does as an adult.

my friends & i would plan for weeks in advance for the proper costume & candy-gathering route. we would mark down the days on the calendar as halloween fast approached. since my birthday is two days before halloween, it was doubly exciting for me in the days leading up to halloween. we'd all get into the mood with a halloween-themed birthday party for me, playing the age-old games that my mom developed: trick or treat & fortune. (incidentally, my favorite fortune game outcome was when i would marry doogie howser, m.d. & live in a mansion while driving a lexus ... at least my tastes have changed from that.) we'd eat way too much candy & cookies & ice cream & then do it all again in a few days.

ah, the good times. hefty helpings of nostalgia make me giddy.
