a semi-productive weekend was had by all. some christmas shopping done, many lines were conquered in awaiting purchasing said shopping itmes, & a trip to toys r us in order to make a purchase for lil t, the girl we adopted at work through the angel tree program.
interestingly enough, angel tree must be a generic name for lots of programs during the christmas season. i did a search to attempt to put a link & came across so many i have no idea which is the correct angel tree. i only know this is through wake county social services, i think.
at any rate, a trip to the local TOYS R US is enough to make anybody reconsider children. why people bring bratty, greedy children to a toy store where they will kick & scream & throw temper tantrums until they get the toy they think they desire, is beyond me. why they allow their children to become so bratty & greedy is beyond me as well.
i suppose it's easy enough to say how i expect i'll be as a mom, but only time will tell. my friend told me the other day that her daughter, peyton, has been the biggest wake-up call to what she thought she'd be as a parent. i suppose imagining pristine babies like you see in the gloss pages of magazines is impossible &, in fact, might be quite boring. after all, do you want a real child or a plastic doll?
speaking of glossy magazines, READYMADE MAGAZINE is the stuff. my friend lent me some old back issues for my reading perusement & enjoyment, since i've bought a couple current issues for myself. the ideas in there are fascinating & hands-on. i like all of the above.
