the news & observer had an interesting article on HOW IMPORTANT BRANDING HAS BECOME TO THE HOUSING MARKET, specifically with the introduction of martha stewart's line of housing. all the houses will be based on her homes & she will be instrumental in designing details like traffic flow & cutting board placement. & all it's all happening my backyard, in cary, nc. only in america can one rise from a tarnished reputation & take a shine to a housing market, backed by two television shows.

if america stands for all that is bright & beautiful, the land of opportunity, & the home of the free & the brave, how do we keep that from going to our head, so to speak? it's no secret that americans are spoiled. but in comparison with the rest of the world, are we simply the trendsetters for the spoilage which, in turn, causes us to be hated? or is it because we're so incredibly inflated about it which causes the hate? or is the freedoms we have?

speaking of freedoms, this morning on the today show, an older man vehemantly indicated his disgust that "the rights of priests in america is no longer guaranteed". all of this was in response to renewed allegations on the priest scandals of molesting children. but it made me wonder about how the religious community fights so hard for it's rights on earth. what's the extent that we should push for these rights? at what point do they usurp our rights as citizens in God's kingdoms.

i don't have the answers right now, but i find it a fascinating topic to consider.
